FAQ

What gases does it detect?

  • LP gas (propane), natural gas (methane), smoke and carbon monoxide.

How is it installed?

  • It only connects to a plug (electrical outlet) and voila, while it is connected it will monitor the quality of the air and activate itself in the event of a leak.

Where to install it?

  • You can connect it in any part of your house where you think there may be a risk, and in general in any closed place where you want to feel safer.

Where not to install it?

  • In extremely humid places. This detector must be at least 3 meters from any shower, sauna, humidifier, vaporizer, dishwasher, laundry room, janitorial room, or other sources of moisture.

  • Behind curtains or furniture that obstruct airflow to the detector.

  • Very close to a stove or oven. It must be at least 1 meter away, to avoid kitchen vapors.

Can it be left connected all the time?

  • Yes, it must be left connected all the time, so that in case of an accident it can alert its user.

In what socket and at what height do I install it?

  • Your Bitwo detector is very sensitive to the dangerous gases mentioned, if you want to detect the widest range of gases, you must install it in an outlet at a medium height from floor to ceiling.

  • If you want to detect LP gas more quickly, plug it into a socket near the ground.

  • If you want to detect smoke and natural gas more quickly, connect your detector at a medium height or far from the ground.

  • Carbon monoxide mixes well with air so it doesn't matter what level the detector is installed at.

What detection area does it have?

  • We recommend installing one detector for each enclosed space of 16 square meters.

Does it emit an audible alarm?

  • It emits a strong alarm of 85dB at 0.5 m in case of an alert.

How loud is the alarm?

  • It can be heard in a two-story house. Its frequency of 2400 Hz is very annoying for the human ear.

What life time does the sensor have?

  • 10 years, after this time it is necessary to replace it.

Does it require any maintenance?

  • Avoid getting dust and clogging the air inlet.

What to do if a false alarm is issued?

  • Unplug it and plug it back in, the detector will automatically calibrate.

At what gas level does the alarm activate?

  • The Bitwo detector is designed to activate between 5% - 10% of the LEL (Lower Explosive Limit) for LP gas and natural gas. Underwriters Laboratories Inc. standard UL1484 recommends a maximum of 25% LEL.

How long does it take for the alarm to activate?

  • The movement of gases is unpredictable and many variables such as wind currents and obstacles must be taken into account. Laboratory tests show a response time of 5-10min at 1 meter from the leak source (in a 4x4 meter room).

Do you have certifications?

  • It complies with the official Mexican standard NOM-003-SCFI-2000 Electrical Products-Safety Specifications. With NOM-NYCE certificate.
